The Story of Prana

Prana began with a simple realization: nature already holds so much of what we need.

My journey began with a deep curiosity about the natural world and a desire to understand the plants, trees, herbs, oils and traditional practices that have been cared for and passed down through generations upon generations.

Over the years, that curiosity took me around the world, from the jungles of the Amazon Rainforest to the villages of Africa, Mexico, Asia, Central America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and beyond.

But it was the people I met along the way who left the deepest impression on me.

I was inspired by Indigenous communities whose relationship with the land is rooted in generations of knowledge, respect, reciprocity, and connection. I witnessed traditional ways of working with plants and natural materials, and I began to understand that these traditions are about so much more than wellness. They are about culture, identity, community, and a profound respect for the Earth.

That experience became the foundation of Prana.

A Deeper Way of Living

Prana was created to bring the beauty and wisdom of nature into everyday rituals while honoring the people, places, and traditions behind what we share.

Our products are thoughtfully crafted in small batches using naturally derived, plant based ingredients, including wild harvested botanicals, herbs, cold pressed oils, and other gifts from the Earth.

I believe we should know where the ingredients we use come from.

Who grew them.

Who harvested them.

How they were made.

And, whenever possible, the story and people behind them.

For me, creating a product is never simply about what is inside the jar. It is about creating a more conscious connection between people, nature, and the communities who have cared for these traditions for generations.

Honoring Indigenous Wisdom

One of the most important parts of Prana's mission is to help bring greater awareness to the importance of protecting Indigenous communities, ancestral knowledge, and the lands they call home.

I believe traditional knowledge deserves to be respected, honored, and protected.

Whenever possible, we seek to build relationships with small farms, artisans, villages, and Indigenous communities and to source directly from the people connected to these traditions.

Our hope is to help create a deeper appreciation for the knowledge, craftsmanship, stories, and cultural traditions that have been carried forward through generations.

Because when we protect the people and communities who hold this knowledge, we also help protect the knowledge itself.

Our Commitment to Mother Earth

Caring for the Earth is inseparable from our definition of wellness.

We choose glass, bamboo, recycled, and biodegradable materials whenever possible. We reuse shipping materials when we can, and our jar refill and recycling program was created with the simple intention of keeping useful materials in circulation and reducing unnecessary waste.

These choices may seem small, but I believe meaningful change is created through the choices we make every day.

For the land.

For the animals.

For the oceans and forests.

For the people who depend on them.

And for generations yet to come.

When Everything Changed

In January 2025, our Los Angeles retail shop was completely destroyed in the Palisades fire.

We lost our physical space, our inventory, ingredients, materials, and so much of what we had built by hand.

It was heartbreaking.

But in the midst of that loss, something became even clearer to me.

Prana was never really about a building.

It was always about connection.

Connection to nature.

Connection to community.

Connection to the people behind our ingredients.

Connection to the traditions that inspire us.

And connection to the Earth we all share.

The fire took away our physical space, but it did not take away our purpose.

So we continue.

With gratitude for everything that brought us here, with love for the communities who have inspired this journey, and with a renewed commitment to creating products and experiences that invite us to slow down, reconnect, and live with greater intention.

Why Prana?

The word Prana is often understood as life force, the energy that moves through all living things.

That idea has always resonated deeply with me.

Because everything is connected.

The plants.

The people.

The land.

The animals.

The water.

The traditions.

And us.

Prana is my way of honoring that connection.

It is an invitation to return to what is natural, to create simple rituals that nourish the body and spirit, and to become more conscious of the choices we make and the world those choices touch.
