Description:
Our Mayan God Clay Statue is a fusion of artistry and tradition, crafted by a local artisan from a Mayan village in Copan, Honduras. Crafted with techniques passed down through the generations, this piece is lovingly hand-carved from gray clay, honoring the tradition of the region.
This clay statue is an homage to the Mayan god Itzamna, a deity in bird form which nested in the axis of the great Ceiba tree, the World Tree, which connected the underworld with the middle world (earth) and upper world.
Perched atop Itzamna is a The Serpent Bird, The Celestial Bird also known as Itzam-Yeh. His feathers are hand-painted colors that brighten the subdued clay figure. The intricate carvings, executed with delicate precision, show us the artisan's dedication to their craft.
Whether displayed as a centerpiece or admired as a work of art, our Mayan God Clay Statue exudes a timeless charm that captures the imagination and takes you to completely different era.
